Football world reacts to Jacob Ramsey’s new contract with Aston Villa

Premier League side Aston Villa have recently confirmed a new long term deal for young academy star Jacob Ramsey. The young attacking midfielder extends his contract until the summer of 2027.

Jacob Ramsey has broken onto the scene in the Premier League this season. Ramsey made his debut under previous Aston Villa manager Dean Smith. But he has been playing some of his best football since Steven Gerrard took over at the club.

The attacking midfielder has a total of 31 appearances across all competitions for Aston Villa this term. In this time he has recorded a respectable six goals and one assist. (stats via Transfermarkt) The 20-year-old has featured mostly on the right side of a midfield three alongside John McGinn and Douglas Luiz.

The youngster has also formed a formidable understanding with on-loan Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho. He has also made a name for himself for making late surges into the penalty box and finishing off chances. Most famously doing it against Manchester United at Villa Park this term.

Talking about his new deal with his boyhood club, Jacob Ramsey said:

“It’s a proud moment for me, especially for my family,” “I’ve been here a long time now, come through the Academy, and to sign for another five years at this club, I’m over the moon.”

Steven Gerrard was also very high on praise for the young attacking midfielder as he signed a new deal with the club. Gerrard said:

“He is a top talent, I’m loving every moment of working with him. He is getting stronger with each game because we’re giving him the platform to express himself. Ramsey is in a wonderful place.”

With the attacking midfielder posting on his Instagram page about his new contract with Aston Villa. A host of footballers and football legends send in positive messages for the youngster. Everton youngster Antony Gorden, who has also made his breakthrough in the Premier League this season commented:

“Well done lad”

While Aston Villa club captain Tyrone Mings also congratulated the young academy graduate on his new contract with the club. He commented:

“Love it mate 💜”

Former Aston Villa assistant manager and football legend John Terry also congratulated the youngster. Terry commented:

“Congratulations mate. Well deserved 💜⚽️”
