FC Barcelona signs Adama Traore on loan from Wolves

About Football Express UK

FC Barcelona has signed Adama Traore on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Spaniard has previously played in La Masia ( Barcelona’s youth set-up). He left for Aston Villa in 2015 after only 4 appearances. Adama has proven his worth in the league after showing his exceptional dribbling and physical abilities.

Adama Traore has taken a pay cut on his return to Barcelona from Wolves because the Catalonia side is struggling with financial issues.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the loan deal is completed with a non-mandatory buy option.

How will Adama Traore fit in at Barcelona?

Traore’s main strength is to play on the right or left side of any front three. In such a position he uses his dribbling ability and pace to beat defenders and put in dangerous crosses. His physicality is at the top level and not many defenders can contend with him.

Adama has insane dribbling stats, especially last season (2020/21) where he topped the charts. He completed 50 successful dribbles in Europe’s Top 5 leagues with other players at a comparatively meagre 29 or fewer dribbles. The Spaniard does lack his finishing ability but perhaps can fit in perfectly at Barca in place of Ousmane Dembele.

Ousmane is in the last six months of his contract with Barcelona. According to Fabrizio Romano and Gerrard Romero, Barcelona cannot pay Dembele his salary demands whereas Ousmane will not accept any other condition.

However new reports have arrived stating that Dembele wants to meet privately with club president Laporta and manager Xavi.

If he does stay with the club then Barca will have to make a few changes.

Firstly if they want to make new signings, they will have to reduce the wage bill.

Secondly, Xavi has many creative and attacking options but not a proper number 9. Dembele and Traore will compete for the wing spot because Ousmane has also been playing well recently.
