English Premier League Champions Manchester City rejects an attempt by Brighton for the signature of wunderkind James McAtee. According to reports, Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion made an unofficial bid of 8 Million euros to sign the 18-year-old Midfielder James McAtee from Manchester City. This was during the summer transfer window.

Manchester City rejected Brighton’s 8 Million bid to sign the player as the young midfielder. He also made his debut earlier this season for City’s main team in a Carabao Cup fixture. The 18-year-old Attacking Midfielder has been starting regularly this season for Manchester City’s youth team. James McAtee was a part of the team that won Premier League 2 last season.

He has found the back of the net 10 times in just 8 Premier League 2 appearances for City and has been an important player for them. The Young English Midfielder has earned caps for England U-18 and he also made his U-20 debut earlier this year.

James McAtee has been attracting interests from several other Premier League clubs

As reported by The Athletic, Brighton has remained open in their pursuit of the young Midfielder. And have not given up on signing the English Prospect. Premier League clubs like West Ham United and Crystal Palace are also in the race for signing the 18-year-old.

Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter is a huge admirer of James McAtee. Due to this, he wants to sign him on a permanent deal. He also planned to penetrate the 18-year-old English midfielder straight into the playing 11. But Manchester city’s stance on the player has remained the same and they don’t want to let him go. Graham Potter’s desires are yet to channelize for now.

One of the key factors for Manchester City’s success in the last 10 seasons is its investment and commitment towards nurturing youth/academy players. James McAtee is regarded as the Brightest prospect in City’s youth academy who can take inspiration from fellow teammates. A regular starter in City’s main team Phil Foden, who also came a long way from the youth academy to the main team.

The Teenage sensation made his Senior debut earlier this season in the third round of the Carabao Cup against Wycombe Wanderers. Which they won in a commanding 6-1 Victory at the Etihad Stadium.
