Cristiano Ronaldo ties the international goalscoring record

The Portugal skipper Cristiano Ronaldo equalizes Ali Daei’s long-standing record of 109 international goals as Portugal drew France 2-2 courtesy of Ronaldo’s brace.

The Juventus star forward looks in great form so far in the tournament. Leading from the front for Portugal, Ronaldo has so far staked in 5 goals in their Euro 2020 campaign. Thus, becoming the leading goal scorer of the Euro 2020 so far.

The Portuguese star forward has scored at least one goal in every match he has played in Euros this year. Ronaldo begins his Euro 2020 campaign with a brace against Hungary. Moving forward the Portuguese captain stacked in a goal and an assist against Germany. In the 3rd and the most crucial match, Ronaldo yet again scored a brace converting from the spot-kick twice against France. And Thus, helping his side to qualify for the knockout stage of the Euro 2020 tournament.

In doing so, Ronaldo reached to a telly of 109 goals and equalized the record set by former Iran forward Daei, whose international career came to an end in 2006.

Ronaldo, the record holder with the most goals at the Euros and World Cup combined

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner recently also broke the record of scoring most goals in the European Championships. Ronaldo has now registered 14 goals to his name in the Euros leaving behind the Frenchmen Michel Platini on nine. Now, Ronaldo has now broke the record of scoring the most goals at the highest level scoring 21 goals combined in Euros plus World Cups. This record was previously held by ex-Germany star Miroslav Klose, who netted 19 times combined in the World Cup and European Championship.

Ronaldo will now be looking forward to becoming the all-time top scorer in the International goals. He is just one goal behind to become the sole holder of the record which he now shares with Ali Daei’s 109 goals.

Portugal will now be looking forward to face Belgium in the round of 16 of the Euro 2020 competition. While Ronaldo will be looking forward to helping his team qualify for the quarterfinals. And thus, become the sole holder of the international goals record.
