Arsenal played Manchester United on Sunday where they went on to grab all three points at Old Trafford. The win against United has kept Arsenal’s hopes alive for the Premier League title. The gunners didn’t seem to be in top form in attack considering the quality of season they are having. Still it was the defensive display from Arsenal that made them take 3 points, credits to their star man in defense William Saliba.

On the podcast of The Rest Is Football, Gary Lineker and Micah Richards praised the 23 year old defender for his amazing performance. Micah Richards expressed his love for defense. He seems to be fan of Saliba and enjoys watching him.

“What a player he is. Best player on the pitch by far” – Micah Richards about Willam Saliba.

Lineker agrees with Richards and considers Saliba as a brilliant player. Micah Richards also said that the timing of challenges made by Saliba is amazing. Along with great reading of game he has good pace which makes him a top defender.

How Saliba has transformed Arsenal

Arsenal had a very good season in scoring this season but they also had a quality season defensively. They have conceded only 28 goals in league which is less than anyone else in the league. The gunners have kept clean sheet for 18 times in 37 matches which shows how strong they have been defensively. The main man behind all this is William Saliba. The French international has just transformed Arsenal into a solid defensive unit and has also been the best defender in the league this season.

What’s next for the Gunners

Arsenal will be playing against Everton on the last day of this season. The gunners will like to secure all three points at Emirates stadium. For them to win the title, Manchester City need to drop points in any one of their remaining two fixtures. Even if they fail to win the title, this season will still go down as a great season and the gunners will be back next season as title contenders.
