Arsenal made the first move for Norwich midfielder Buendia

About Football Express UK

Arsenal have reportedly submitted a £30 million bid for Norwich City’s versatile midfielder Emiliano Buendia. According to the report in football.london.

The Argentine midfielder was in scintillating form for the Canaries in the 2020-21 season. And he has played an important role in Norwich’s promotion to top-flight football. Buendia made 39 appearances in the Championship, scoring 15 goals and 16 assists is quite impressive.

Norwich City bought the 24-years-old midfielder from La Liga side Getafe in 2018. Daniel Farke’s side had to invest €1.5 million for the talented midfielder and the investment has paid off brilliantly.

Buendia has a contract with the club until June 2024. However, some reports were suggesting that the midfielder feels this is the right time to take a step forward in his career and Norwich agreed with that. And the Canaries are now open in selling their star performer this summer.

Can Arsenal buy Buendia this summer?

The report in football.london is stating that Arsenal have made their first formal offer of £30 million for Emiliano Buendia. However, the fellow Premier League club Aston Villa matched that offer. Dean Smith’s side are looking to replace Jack Grealish with the Argentine.

It is believed that Buendia is looking for a step forward in his career and wants to play at the top level of football. So, if Arsenal and Aston Villa come up with the same financial package then the midfielder would choose Emirates Stadium as his next destination over Villa Park.

From Mikel Arteta’s team’s perspective, this deal makes a lot of sense. As Martin Odegaard has returned to Real Madrid, and after the managerial change at Los Blancos, it is expected that the Norwegian will play an important part under Carlo Ancelotti.

So, Buendia will be a perfect addition for Arsenal as they have only Emile Smith Rowe for the creative midfield role. And the Argentine midfielder is a goal scorer, as well as a provider from midfield. The north Londoners lacked goals from midfield last season and Buendia could be the perfect addition to overcome that problem.
