Manchester United have set their sights on Ajax forward Antony. United have a lack of striker since Edinson Cavani left the club. Moreover Antony Martial could be leaving. However, the news at the moment is Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave the club.
Ronaldo has been the ray of shining light in a disappointing season. While United end up sixth losing out on Champions League football. Ronaldo had a good season finding the back of the net 18 times in the Premier League finishing 3rd. However, Ronaldo wants to leave United due to their lack of ambition in the transfer market. The transfer market has been open for almost a month and United have just made a single signing in the form of Tyrell Malacia. Moreover, United’s lack of Champions League football in the upcoming season just adds to Ronaldo’s worries. Although United have said that Ronaldo is not for sale and wants him to stay until the end of his contract.
Antony -> Old Trafford?
Manchester United had earlier shown interest in Antony. However, they dropped their interest once Ajax set big price tags for their players. However, the news of Ronaldo’s departure has put pressure on the management to sign a striker. United renew their interest for Antony who has a price tag of 70M.
Antony would be more than willing to join United as he wanted a move to the Premier League. Moreover former Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag is the manager of Manchester United. Antony has played under Ten Hag and shares a good relationship with him. Antony would be open to making a move towards Old Trafford in the Summer. However, it is to be seen if Ajax would let Antony leave considering many first-team players have already left the club in the Summer.
