Tottenham: “Someone informed me the players…” after Conte’s latest

The former West Ham striker alleged exclusively to Football Insider. That Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is not receiving the compensation he is seeking at Spurs.

As the Lilywhites approach another trophyless campaign following their shocking FA Cup elimination to Sheffield United. And Champions League defeat by AC Milan, Conte has come under growing pressure in recent weeks.

The Italian appeared to make it obvious that he would be pleased to leave the London club. That too before his contract ends at the end of the season at his press conference after their 3-3 draw with relegation-fighting Southampton.

On March 19, sources informed this website that Ryan Mason would serve as interim coach at Tottenham until the end of the current campaign as Conte’s tenure at the club comes to an end.

Pochettino leading the race to join as a manager for Tottenham

Former Tottenham manager Pochettino is one of the front-runners to succeed the 53-year-old, and Football Insider reported last week (15 March) that contact had been made with the Argentine.

But McAvennie emphasised that Pochettino’s return is not the solution.

“Is it good to go back? Pochettino is a good manager, but I think that about Conte as well,” he told Football Insider.

“Conte is one of the elite and he has a certain way of doing things.”

“Somebody told me that the Tottenham players were asking Poch to come back. I do not think that can be right, why would you not want to play under Conte? It baffles me. The breed of footballers nowadays never cease to amaze me.”

“I just think my god why would you not want to learn off someone like Conte?”

“I know for a fact that he has been trying to buy a centre-half and they will not give him the money. He needs to go and spend big but I do not think that will happen.“
