Spain to face Greece in a vital World Cup qualifier match

About Football Express UK

Spain will face Greece on November 11th. La Rojas are second in the table whereas Greece is third. It seemed as if all hopes were lost for Greece but they have one last shot.

If Greece succeeds in beating Spain then they will have a chance in the playoffs. They have no chance to take Spain’s or Sweden’s place.

On the other hand, Spain will look to maintain pressure on Sweden. Luis Enrique and co will try their best to take all three points.

Spain under Luis Enrique made good progress in Euro 2021 and especially in the Nations League. Unfortunately, they lost against France after reaching the final.

Here’s how Spain can possibly line up. Spain’s veterans to be vital for them?

Luis Enrique will carry on with a traditional 4-3-3 formation. Enrique will likely make use of his best players to beat Greece.

Spain last won a trophy in 2012 which was the Euros. Before that, they won the World Cup in 2010. From the 2012 squad till 2021, many players came and went but some are still here.

Sergio Busquets

The ageing midfielder is close to the end of his career but is a legendary player. Sergio has been great for both Barcelona and Spain. Often when people talk about Xavi and Iniesta, Busquets is not talked about much. He’s not quite underrated but is still a legend, his legacy is untouchable.

He is a slow player but plays simple football and makes everything look elegant. Busquets has played well for FC Barcelona as well as Spain. He was named the best player in the Nations League 2021 tournament.

Jordi Alba

Just like Busquets, Alba was also part of the Spain 2010 and 2012 squad. The left-back is also getting old and is still in form. He has scored or assisted in many big games for Barcelona in the 2021 season.

The wing-back is not great in defending but is excellent in the offence. He creates chances for his team and uses his pace and experience to get the better of his opponents.

Dani Carvajal

The Spaniard has made his name at Real Madrid. He rejoined his boyhood club in 2011 but struggled to secure game time under Mourinho. In 2013 he made his name and had 45 appearances for Madrid. He has been a part of the three-peat winning squad.

Carvajal is an aggressive player and is rock solid defensively. His experience is helpful to La Rojas as they look to clinch a trophy.

These veterans along with the new squad can win trophies and bring Spain back to glory.
