Rio Ferdinand showed concern for James Maddison as he hinted toward time fading away to convince Southgate for his selection.
Maddison only made one appearance for England as he came off the bench in a 7-0 victory over Montenegro.
Southgate has already given his 55-man list and will provide the shortlist of players 3 days prior to the international break.
Maddison is a must for the World Cup?

Fans believe that he needs to get selected for the world cup.
Despite this form, he was not called by Southgate for the international break in September.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand cannot understand why Southgate did not call Maddison for the break.
Rio claims that he likes the player although is not sure where he will fit in the system.

Rio said on his podcast.
“He didn’t play well at the weekend. His stats, numbers, and performances recently have been phenomenal.
“All I am going to say is who do you take out of that number 10 position? Who do you take out? Grealish, Foden, Mount, Saka, Sterling. Who do you take out?
“I like James Maddison and think he has huge talent but it’s where does he fit in this squad and team?
“So Grealish to people like us in terms of stats isn’t where he should be.
“He hasn’t got enough assists and goals but if you went to Pep Guardiola and said: ‘In your team is he doing what you need him to do?’“The fact he keeps playing him suggests yes.”
Leicester City has 3 games before the world cup break and these games will be crucial for Maddison to prove himself for the World Cup.
After a 1-0 defeat against Manchester City, they will be facing Everton and after that will host Newport country in the Carabao cup.
Their last match before the world cup will be against West Ham.
