Paul Pogba Misses Out On World Cup Qualifiers Due To Injury.

Premier League player

France midfielder Paul Pogba will miss out on World Cup qualifiers because of a thigh injury.

Pogba and Manchester United recently lost against Manchester City. The team doctor Franck Le Gall said to the French Football Federation that

“Paul Pogba is forced to withdraw from France’s next two games at the Parc des Princes against Kazakhstan and Finland in Helsinki.”

This would not affect France much since they are at the top of their group. They have already secured 12 points and a victory against Kazakhstan will guarantee them a place in the World Cup.

Why does Paul Pogba play good for France but not for his club?

Over the years, Pogba has received a lot of criticism. This has happened because he has been inconsistent for Manchester United. But it is not only his fault.

Ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed as manager, the board introduced new players. The club let go of Ander Herrera and was left with Fred and an ageing Nemanja Matic.

Fred has not been great at CDM and because of this Pogba has to play deep. United often lose matches because of their leaky defence and lack of a good CDM.

Paul Pogba plays with N’golo Kante in the France squad. N’golo Kante is excellent, his work rate is amazing. He alone covers the entire midfield and is key in defence. His presence itself allows Pogba to play freely.

It is not only Kante’s presence but Pogba’s abilities that are also great.

He proved himself yet again with France during Euros 2020. France lost to Switzerland but Pogba was excellent.

According to Opta Jean, Paul Pogba topped the rankings in many stats.

In the Nations League, Pogba was the star of the show against Spain. Despite having zero goals and zero assists, he produced excellent individual numbers.

Pogba won 11 duels out of 16 contested. He attempted 6 dribbles and all of them were successful. He also created a chance and contributed defensively. (Source: Statman Dave).

It is evident that when placed in a composed midfield Pogba is quite unbeatable. Even at Juventus he flourished and will continue to do so with France. The team needs a good defensive midfielder. Despite this Pogba has 7 assists in 9 Premier League games.

What’s next for Pogba as he returns from injury?
