Manchester United player ratings for horrific 4-0 loss against Brighton

About Football Express UK

Manchester United have confirmed their worst ever points tally in a Premier League season with the horrific 4-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League. On top of the 4-0 humiliation, the defeat means that Manchester United can’t finish in the top four at the end of the season. The club can now only hope and fight for a Europa League spot.

Brighton controlled possession early on and took the game to Manchester United. Moises Caicedo opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a brilliant long rang striker. The red devils were dreadful and could not put together two passes together. The home side went into halftime with only one goal advantage despite all their domination.

Ralf Rangnick made a couple of changes at halftime in order to influence the game. But it all went from bad to worst as Marc Cucurella scored after just 4 minutes of kickoff. Pascal Gross added another goal just minutes later after brilliant footwork inside the United box. Leandro Trossard added another goal just 4 minutes later to take the scoreline to 4-0. Brighton controlled the game very well after that and the game ended 4-0.

Manchester United player ratings

David de Gea 4

Could have saved the first goal but was once again let down by the defenders in front of him.

Diogo Dalot 3

Did a good bit of ball progression in the first half but was torn to shreds in the second half by the Brighton left-sided players.

Victor Lindelof 3

Horrible performance, he was outpaced at times and looked very slow.

The French centre-half was torn to shreds by Gross for Brighton’s third goal. Looked very uncomfortable in defence.

Alex Telles 2

Brighton targetted the left-back and he was horrible defensively and going forward.

Scott McTominay 2

Constantly gave away fee kicks and roamed rounded aimlessly at most times.

Nemanja Matic 5

Made a couple of good tackles and interceptions and made a brilliant run into the Brighton box. He was taken off at halftime.

Juan Mata 3

The Spanish maestro had little to no time on the ball and was unable to influence the game at all.

Anthony Elanga 2

Struggled to do anything in the first half. He was taken off at half time.

Bruno Fernandes 3

Struggled to get involved in the game after starting from the left flank.

Cristiano Ronaldo 2

Never looked like a goal threat and was given no opportunity to add to his impressive goal tally this term by his teammates.
