Lingard says no to a swap deal with Rice

About Football Express UK

Jesse Lingard has reportedly declined a swap deal including him and West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice. The 28-year-old attacking midfielder had a dream run after signing on loan from Manchester United to the Hammers.

However, the Red Devils are looking for signing Rice. Thus, Lingard could be offered to West Ham after his stunning form in the Premier League.

His loan stint has ended in the London club but won’t it be a wiser option to move there as he gets lesser playing time with the Manchester club.

Lingard doesn’t want to be a makeweight for Declan Rice deal

Jesse Lingard joined West Ham United on loan from Manchester United last season. As he was lacking a lot of playing time under Solskjaer, he opted for a move to London. And luckily, it turned out to be an excellent move.

He scored nine goals across 16 appearances for the Hammers and they almost made it to the top four in the Premier League. However, with Liverpool bouncing back and Chelsea’s top form, his side just managed to finish in the top six.

Since joining the Red Devils in the 2011-12 season, he made 210 appearances scoring just 33 goals. And thus, he got some fresh air outside Old Trafford. but now, he’s not intending for a swap deal as per ESPN.

West Ham are interested in signing him on a permanent basis and are ready to offer £80 million for Lingard. But, it would mean that they would have to let go of one of their best players – Declan Rice.

It was a mixed season for Manchester United as they finished 2nd in the league and lost to Villarreal on penalties in the Europa League final. However, they are reportedly closing in for the deals concerning Jadon Sancho and Eduardo Camavinga as of now.
