Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp went through many ups and downs throughout his managerial career, but the biggest was not signing Heung-Min-Son when he was BVB’s head coach.
Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he regrets not signing Son at Borussia Dortmund.
Klopp got a hint of Son‘s playing ability when he was at Hamburg, making a name for himself in the Bundesliga in 2013.
Son scored 12 games in 34 games throughout the 2012-13 season and Klopp found him perfectly suitable for his side.
However, Son had other ideas as he joined Bayern Leverkusen in the summer window of 2013.
Even though both Klopp and Son came to the Premier League in 2015, going to Liverpool and Spurs respectively.
The German manager is still yet to overcome the idea of failing to sign the South Korean winger.
On the South Korean network KBS, Klopp admitted: “One of the big mistakes in my life was that I didn’t sign him.
“Outstanding player. World-class player and one of the best strikers in the world. Yeah, you should be proud.”
Son also opened up on not going to BVB. He went to Bayern Leverkusen because of guaranteed game time and he could not afford to risk game time in BVB’s squad rotation.
At that stage of his career, the attacker demanded more playing time.
Klopp and Son may finally play together.
However, there is a possibility now that Klopp can finally coach Son as the winger is planning to leave Spurs for new challenges.
The Reds will surely be keeping an eye on him, but they will also have PSG and Real Madrid in the race to sign him.
Recently, Liverpool owners put the club for sale and new owners may want to start their regime by signing a star player like this.
