About Football Express UK

According to reports, Serie A giants Juventus are close to re-signing Manchester United star Paul Pogba on a free transfer ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Premier League giants Manchester United recently confirmed that the French star was leaving the club on a free transfer once again. Manchester United signed Paul Pogba for a record transfer fee of £89 million back in 2016. But after six pretty dissipating seasons with the Premier League outfit, the French star is leaving the club on a free transfer.

Paul Pogba was more often than not criticized for his haircuts and lifestyle by the English media. At the same time, his failed transfer can be blamed on the mismanagement behind the scenes at Manchester United. Pogba was utilized mostly as a defensive midfielder in a two-man pivot. While he did show his quality when given the freedom. The club never build the team around Paul Pogba. But instead bought players for the sake of buying players.

Pogba enjoyed a very good start to the season. But his season was hampered by injuries and setbacks. He made a total of 29 appearances across all competitions. During this time he recorded one goal and nine assists. (stats via Transfermarkt)

Are Juventus and Paul Pogba the perfect match for each other?

Paul Pogba also has drawn attention from French giants PSG and Spanish giants Real Madrid. Juventus have offered Pogba a three-year contract. But Juventus still seems the perfect option for Pogba. While the club has fallen off in the last few seasons. But with Paulo Dybala leaving the club on a free transfer, Paul Pogba will certainly be the start of the rebuild at Juventus.

On top of that, he finally may play in his preferred position and have the freedom to express himself on the pitch. Juventus are also close to signing Ángel Di María on a free transfer. Chelsea midfielder Jorginho who has just one year remaining on his contract with the blues is also a target for Juventus. A move back to Italy seems the best option for Paul Pogba at the moment. The signing of Jorginho and Angel Di Maria could also help Massimiliano Allegri’s side get back on top of the Serie A table.
