How will Chelsea Line up Against Aston Villa?

About Football Express UK

Chelsea who is currently in 4th place in the league will be facing Leeds this weekend. While due to the international Break many of the first-teamers from Chelsea have been playing during the break. Many of the players from Aston Villa weren’t called up and could lead to being more rested players.

Chelsea is the favourite to win against Aston Villa due to the strength within their squad as well as the home advantage.  Aston Villa hasn’t been able to fully mend their squad after selling Jack Grealish. The club has made sure to use the Transfer fees for players who can fill the void. This can be seen with the club losing their last match in the league.

Chelsea on the other hand is pushing at full throttle to win the League. Chelsea did draw their match against Liverpool due to the red card on Recce James. Due to that and losing the lead after Salah scoring the penalty. The team dropped deep and playing quite the defensive block. This can be seen where the average position of the Chelsea Defensive line was on the line of the penalty box.

Chelsea towards the end of the Transfer window on the deadline signed Saul Niguez on loan. While in the eyes of many, the Chelsea team could be quite bloated. In reality, Chelsea is making sure that they don’t have a void in the team due to injuries. If there is an injury then the squad already has another play who can play in that position. As been reported earlier in the month, N’Golo Kante suffered an Ankle injury which got him called back from the French National Team.

What System Can Chelsea Play against Aston Villa to Secure the Victory?

While Chelsea will stick to the formations with 3 centre-backs in them, there could be a change in the midfield. As Kante is injured, there is a small possibility for the club to start Saul Niguez as the defensive midfielder with Jorginho. While Recce James might not play the match due to suspension, we could see Callum Hudson-Odoi start this game at Right-Wing Back. At the same time, the likes of Ben Chilwell can start on the left.

The attacking three consisting of Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Romelu Lukaku. This is to create a midfield block in the attacking half of the pitch. With this Chelsea can create an overload due to having 4 midfielders in the central part of the pitch. While Romelu Lukaku can play as a target man or a poach and make runs behind the defence. By doing so getting to the end of crosses made as well as low passes to score goals in the Penalty box.
