Harry Maguire problems have gotten worse as he will miss the FA Cup semifinal owing to a suspension

Manchester United

In order to beat Fulham on Sunday at Old Trafford and advance to the FA Cup semifinals, Manchester United had to pull off yet another come-from-behind victory. The final score was 3-1. Harry Maguire, United’s captain was suspended.

Aleksander Mitrovic had given the away team a well-deserved lead. But he, Marco Silva, and Willian all lost their cool. They were sent off, which gave United a chance to get back into the game.

As a loan signing, Bruno Fernandes grabbed a brace. With his first goal for the team, Marcel Sabitzer secured victory and the chance to take on Brighton at Wembley.

The United defence, which was captained by Harry Maguire, faced multiple perilous situations. But David de Gea’s excellent shot-stopping saved the day.

In an effort to restrict the Cottagers, Maguire received his second straight caution. He made a flagrant tackle on the Fulham striker in the first half.

The England player won’t get to go to Wembley. Because, under FA Cup rules, players who receive two straight yellow cards suspended from the competition’s following round.

Harry Maguire not at his best this season

Maguire hasn’t had the best of seasons, and this will only make things worse. The previous opportunity for the club captain to begin at Wembley was during the Carabao Cup final.

The 30-year-old has only made five league starts. And there have been numerous rumours tying him to a summer transfer from the team.

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, World Cup champions, are Ten Hag’s favoured defensive pairing, with Luke Shaw, a left defender, ahead of them in the pecking order.

Even Maguire’s strongest admirer, England manager Gareth Southgate, has suggested that he has to start more games in order to avoid jeopardising his prospects of playing for his country.

Raphael Varane missed the past two of games due to an injury. United are hopeful the Frenchman can make a full recovery in time for the vital stretch following the international break.

The Red Devils may also consider Victor Lindelof, albeit even he hasn’t played as much as he would have liked to.

Maguire will be hoping his club can defeat the Seagulls and advance to the competition’s final. This would probably pit Manchester City against another team.
