ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE

Griezmann looking for a move to the Premier League?

About Football Express UK

Antoine Griezmann would be considering a move to the Premier League. His agent is holding talks with several English clubs. The 30-year-old forward is one of the big earners in the club. Thus, he would be most likely heading away from Camp Nou as Barcelona are considering easing their huge debt.

Despite being the second-best goalscorer for the Blaugranas last season, he faces a lack of playing time under head coach Ronald Koeman. Currently, Barca have completed signings of two more forwards – Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero.

Although he has three more years left in his contract, the transfer money would be beneficial for Barcelona so as to keep skipper Lionel Messi at the club. Currently, Atletico Madrid are the frontrunners to sign him. However, big names like Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Paris Saint Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich are also linked for a possible transfer.

Griezmann could be a cheaper Haaland alternative for Chelsea

Antoine Griezmann joined Barcelona from rivals Atletico Madrid in 2019. Since then, he made 99 appearances scoring 35 goals. However he failed to recreate his stunning form at the Rojiblancos and would be probably looking for a new challenge.

A swap deal involving him and Saul Niguez has been proposed by his former club. But, Barca would hardly consider it. Earlier, Luis Suarez made the move and was the key man in their La Liga triumph last season. Another possible destination would be Chelsea.

According to 90Min, the Blues are looking for a loan deal for the Frenchman if they fail to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. But, he won’t be a perfect “nine” for the club as compared to Haaland even though he has good finishing ability.

Additionally, English clubs like Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City have also shown their interest to sign him. Among these three, the Red Devils are believed to be better suitors for him. It could be a more better role for him in the Premier League as compared to the current scenario.
