Dan Burn has labelled Manchester City as ‘by far and away’ the best team in the Premier League, over the likes of Arsenal.
Speaking on The Monday Night Club on BBC Radio 5 Live, the Newcastle defender discussed Man City’s 3-3 draw against Tottenham on Sunday.
Arsenal moved two points clear at the top of the Premier League table over the weekend after a 2-1 win over Wolves.
Mikel Arteta’s men haven’t hit their best form so far this season but continue to grind out positive results. As for City, there have been signs they are suffering a slight hangover from last year’s historic treble.
Yet, Dan Burn believes Pep Guardiola’s men are still ‘by far’ the best side in the league.
Burn still thinks City is the best team in the Premier League currently
Speaking on the Monday Night Club, Burn admitted he was impressed with Tottenham’s display at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
But the Newcastle defender claimed that despite a slightly rocky start to the season,
City remain the benchmark in the Premier League.
“Knowing that I’ve been there [Etihad Stadium] on numerous occasions and been battered,” he said. “The thing with City as well, you can go there and just be demoralised, you won’t even get a kick!
“They’re constantly creating chances, whereas other teams you always feel like there’s a chance.
“The league is so strong now, there are sort of eight or nine teams who are competing for those European places and they’ve got belief now they can go there and get it.
“I’m not saying there are panic stations at City because
I still think they’re by far and away the best team. But teams now will fancy themselves to go there.”
Based on current form alone, Arsenal have undoubtedly been the most consistent side in the division and the league table doesn’t lie. But you would expect City to improve over the coming weeks, especially when Kevin De Bruyne returns from injury.
The Gunners raced out in front last season and were eventually caught by Guardiola’s side towards the business end of the season.
With that said, Arsenal do appear to have a different resolve about them this time around
As they continue to produce results while not being at their fluid best.
