Brazil 2-1 Colombia : Analysis
Brazil were completely dominant throughout the game but were given an early blow as Luis Diaz completely nailed a superb bicycle kick. Marquinhos and Thiago Silva were completely outsmarted as the Colombians took an early first half lead in the 10th minute. A superb cross from Juan Cuadrado lead to an extraordinary goal.
However, the Cafeteros were less clinical and were hardly a threat for Weverton as the game progressed. In the second half, the Little Canaries took complete hold of the match.
Richarlison had a brilliant opportunity in the 37th minute but he couldn’t get the shot past the opponent goalkeeper. Neymar nearly equalized in the 53rd minute but the goalkeeper denied him.
He again was denied by the goalpost in the 65th minute and it seemed that Brazil are just getting there. And thus, Roberto Firminho with his bullet header, made it 1-1 in the 77th minute. The opposition deserved better and unfortunately, they ended up on the losing side ultimately.
Neymar, however, helped his team to win after taking a superb corner kick finding skipper Casemiro, who made it 2-1 in the last minute of the game.
Notable Performances :
Luis Diaz (7.5/10) – The 24-year-old midfielder deserved better but definitely, his goal would be one of the favourites to win as the Goal of the Tournament. However, his performance is crucial for them as Colombia gave a tough fight to favourites, Brazil.
Danilo (7/10) – He’s been at his absolute best and was well organized. Now, the 29-year-old Brazilian defender had been one of their main reasons for their success in scoring goals.
David Ospina (5.5/10) – He could have saved Firminho’s header and it was a poor performance from the skipper.
