Chelsea’s new signing Wesley Fofana took 10 hours of Medical examination – Reasons?
The 21-years-old Wesley Fofana is a French centre-back who joined the London club Chelsea this season for €85m. Fofana had numerous youth french clubs. But the Frenchman got his breakthrough when he debut for the senior side of Saint-Étienne. Where he caught the eyes of the selectors all around the world. Leicester City signed the youngster to the English Premier League on October 2020 for £36.5 million. And now, Thomas Tuchel brought the 21-year-old to strengthen the Chelsea Defense line. And now it took more than 10 hours for the Frenchman’s medical exam.
There aren’t any problems, but Chelsea are taking extra ‘peace of mind’ for Fofana’s long-term injury last season. Last season, during the pre-season friendly match against Villarreal. Fofana missed out on 7 months of the 2021-2022 campaign, due to a broken leg and suffering from ankle ligament damage.
Fofana said that,
“I wanted to show my determination to the club. We also wanted to not receive money for my image rights, and my agents managed that perfectly, because I didn’t want to be bogged down by such stories. Chelsea’s system is quite similar to Leicester’s. They want to use me in a three at the back defence. I can play on the right or in the middle. I’ll adapt either way.”
