Chelsea monitoring a move for Adama Traore

About Football Express UK

Chelsea might be the favourites to sign Adama Traore from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The 25-year-old striker would be most likely leaving the Premier League club after his dip in form this season.

Wolves have signed Francisco Trincao on loan from Barcelona and thus, there might be a competition for Traore at his current club. Additionally, the club parted ways with Nuno Espirito Santo, who is now at Tottenham Hotspur.

Although there are two more years left at his contract, he might be heading out of Molineux stadium. Rivals Liverpool are also linked with the transfer.

Adama Traore has ability to ‘slip’ past opponent defenders and Chelsea have a chance to sign a top striker

Adama Traore joined Wolves from Championship side Middlesbrough during the 2018-19 season. Since then, he made 131 appearances with ten goals and 18 assists for them.

He is one of the fastest players in the Premier League and his performances earned him a call-up for his nation, Spain. However, in the Euro 2020, he made just a single appearance – in the 5-0 win over Slovakia.

The former La Masia product spends the early days of his professional career at Barcelona and then, he moved to the English teams. But, his best performances were sure with the Wolves, who finished at a disappointing 13th place in the league last season.

Spain were defeated on penalties by Italy in the semifinals. According to Birmingham mail, Wolves wait for Chelsea to make a move for the striker.

Other big names such as his former club Barcelona, Leeds United and Liverpool are also linked with the transfer. However, the club wants a deal for at least £40 million and as per the same source, the Blues are ready for a deal worth  £25 million, which is way less than the asking price.

Wolves begin their pre-season with friendlies against Crewe Alexandra FC, Real Betis, Stoke City, Coventry and Celta Vigo. They face Leicester City on 14th August in the Premier League.
