Chelsea are reportedly thinking about a move for Miralem Pjanic from Spanish heavyweights, Barcelona. The 31-year-old defensive midfielder is currently out of favour for the Catalan club.
Additionally, there have been rumours of Jorginho leaving the Premier League for a move to Italy. Thus, if the Italian leaves, Pjanic might be the perfect replacement. Also, Billy Gilmour is set to join Norwich City on loan and a void is left at the midfield section.
Although his contract expires three years later, Barca are looking to cash in some money so as to overcome their huge debt.
Chelsea to bring in some experience in their midfield section with the inclusion of Pjanic
Miralem Pjanic joined Barcelona from Juventus as a part of a swap deal including him and Arthur Melo in June 2020. However, it hasn’t been a good season for the Bosnia and Herzegovina international in the La Liga club.
He made 30 appearances for the Blaugranas and is yet to score a goal in his new club. However, lack of playing time has been an issue as head coach Ronald Koeman prefers Frenkie de Jong and Sergio Busquets over him. The Catalans managed to win just the Copa del Rey and were at 3rd place in the Spanish league.
His brilliant stint at Roma was the best highlight of his career and the ‘Little Prince’ then made a move to Turin. However, as per Le10sport.com, the Pensioners have joined the race to sign him.
But, they face stern competition against two of the biggest clubs, Juventus and Paris Saint Germain. The former is ready to bring him once again to Allianz Stadium. Whereas, Les Parisiens are looking for some big-money signings after their recent success in signing Georginio Wijnaldum.
A new challenge awaits for him if he moves to the London club as Thomas Tuchel gears up for the next challenge – winning the League!
