Chelsea could make an offer for the Barcelona star Griezmann

Fulham

Chelsea among the clubs who could sign Antoine Griezmann from Barcelona. The 30-year-old forward has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou despite his excellent run of form.

However, it would be a cheaper alternative for Erling Haaland, who is currently under the radar of the Blues. Additionally, the competition for the forwards will intensify further in the Catalan club due to the inclusion of new arrivals – Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay!

Although he has three more years left on his contract, Barca are looking to pay off their huge debt by letting many of their crucial players leave. Rivals Manchester United are also keen on signing him.

A French “Reunion” for Griezmann awaits him at Chelsea

Antoine Griezmann joined Barcelona from La Liga rivals, Atletico Madrid in 2019. However, he couldn’t replicate his form at his new club. Since then, he had scored 35 goals and 17 assists in 99 appearances in a Blaugrana shirt.

He was also the second best goalscorer for the club after skipper Lionel Messi in the last season. But, his inconsistent performances were really a concern for head coach, Ronald Koeman.

According to Daily Star, Chelsea have been among one of the clubs who might be the new suitors for the Frenchman. Additionally, he could play alongside his national teammates such as Olivier Giroud, N’Golo Kante and Kurt Zouma.

In 2019, the then Paris Saint Germain led by Thomas Tuchel was also linked for a move for him. Tuchel is believed to be a big fan of him! But, his team needed to buy a defender then.

“Griezmann can play with every team in the world. It would please any coach, but right now it’s not realistic [for PSG],” he said.

However, it would be a better option for him to join a club that have recently won the Champions League. Tuchel has now eyes set up on his next challenge – the Premier League!

Chelsea begins their league campaign against London rivals Crystal Palace, who have now appointed a new head coach none other than former Arsenal legend – Patrick Vieira!
