Billy Gilmour the star of the match for Scottland against England

About Football Express UK

The Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour became the youngest player for Scotland to receive UEFA’s man of the match award on his first start for The Tartan Army.

The 20-year old featuring in the Euro 2020 for Scotland, produced a display that belied his youth and inexperience as Scotland held England to a goalless draw and kept their hopes of Euro 2020 progress alive. However, Scotland are yet to win a match at the Euro 2020, but Billy Gilmour efforts were non-other than a match-winner for them.

Billy Gilmour and company will be hoping to keep producing such performance and eventually end up qualifying for the round of 16. It will be interesting to see how far Scotland can go on in the tournament.

The Scotland international expressing his views after an impressive display saying

“It was a great performance by the full team. We dug in really deep. We came here with a game plan, stuck to it, and did it really well. I was ready. I trained with the squad, all the boys have helped me settle in really well. To play against England in my first game, I’m so proud and to come here and do really well was even better.”

The Chelsea midfielder feeling a moment of delight further added

“Playing for my country I’m so proud, against England as well at Wembley. It’s massive. It was amazing, the fans were incredible as well, singing from the first minute to the last. They gave us a massive boost. We knew we had to go on the pitch and give the fans what they wanted.”

Scotland will now be getting themselves ready for the big match against Croatia at Hampden Park on 22nd June. The Tartan Army will be looking forward to put on yet another match-winning performance but this time with all three points. Scotland needs to win their last Group D match in order to keep themselves into consideration for qualifying in the round of 16.
