About Football Express UK

Arsenal have to reduce one or more midfielders from their squad to sign Lyon’s Houssem Aouar in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Gunners have shown their interest in the French midfielder, Housssem Aouar. He has scored 8 goals and registered in his 33 appearances for the club during the 2021-22 campaign.

According to ESPN, Mikel Arteta’s side is planning to move forward to sign the 23-year-old midfielder, but for the formal offer to take place they have to remove either one or more midfielders from their club.

The reports say that Lyon are planning to sell Aouar for a transfer fee of €25m (£21.4m) for the coming season, which is a high discount as compared to the €60m (£51.3m) deal by Tottenham Hotspurs which was allegedly denied by the last year.

Matteo Guendouzi has left the Emirates Stadium, while Martin Odegaard will not be returning to Gunners next season following a loan spell from Real Madrid.

Will Arsenal be successful in getting the signature of Houssem Aouar before the start of next season?

Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira are linked to move from the team. While on the other hand, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Joe Willock are available for transfer in the current window.

Aouar’s 2-year contract is left with Lyon. He is planning to shift to Premier League after his contract is completed with Lyon. He is happy to join Arsenal as they cannot offer European football.

Aouar is a versatile midfielder. He can play everywhere in the midfield. Thus, he has been complimented for his technical ability and calmness with the ball at his feet. He is a playmaker of modern time. He can help his teammates in scoring goals through successful passes and crosses in the opponents half.

Aouar has represented his country France at different youth levels such as Under 17 and Under 21. He was in the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League squad of the season.
