Argentina vs Brazil 0-0 : Post Match Analysis

About Football Express UK

Argentina faced Brazil yesterday in a World Cup qualifier match. Brazil has kept a clean sheet in 11 games whereas Argentina has now qualified.

Yesterday no points were shared in a draw between Argentina and Brazil. The second-placed  La Albiceleste qualified for the World Cup 2022 after Chile lost to Ecuador.

Brazil has already qualified for the World Cup 2022 in Qatar. There were fewer opportunities between the two. Neymar was injured whereas Messi just returned from an injury. Fred’s attempt on goal hit the bar in the 60th minute.

Vinicius Jr also had a one vs one against Emi Martinez in the 17th minute. He tried to dribble past Emi Martinez but failed to do so. Despite his finishing not being good in the match, his overall performance was great. In Neymar’s absence, he can find spaces and dribble past players easily.

Lionel  Messi only had one shot on target which the Brazilian goalkeeper Allison saved without any difficulty.

When it comes to Brazil, they have two world-class goalkeepers. But the smallest of mistakes separates them both. It is possible that Ederson can play instead of Allison. Allison’s mistakes in the league matches might influence the manager’s decision. Not only that but Allison also invited unnecessary pressure after holding on to the ball for too long. He almost conceded a goal as well in the second half of the match.

Argentina had more possession and passes made but found a bit of difficulty in creating chances.

Injuries for Brazil and Argentina

In the 35th minute, Nicolas Otamendi’s elbow hit Raphinha and the Brazilian started bleeding. He then required five stitches in the break to stop the bleeding. It is arguably right to say that Otamendi was lucky yesterday. He escaped a red card after hitting a player in the neck with his elbow. Not only this but he also stayed to play the entire match. The results would have been different if he was sent off.

Messi played the entire match after recovering from a knee injury. The Argentinian only played for 15 minutes last week against Uruguay. It is not easy to play with the pace that this match demanded,” Messi said after the match.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Cristian Romero has been injured in the match. The Argentinian was seen limping and now the doctors will assess the severity of the injury.
