“All over the place” attack on two Manchester United FC players, Ten Hag listens to Roy Keane

Erik ten Hag

Roy Keane advised Erik ten Hag to avoid Manchester United FC players Scott McTominay and Fred in the early days of the Dutchman’s rule, and it appears that ten Hag did so.

Ten Hag’s first game in command ended in a humiliating 2-1 home loss to Brighton on the first day of the season, and Keane was harsh in his evaluation of United’s then-midfield pair. While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick were in charge, the Irishman wasn’t really fond of the Manchester United FC players, and by the time Ten Hag took over, he had completely run out of patience.

“The two in the middle of the park, all over the place,” Keane told Sky Sports. “Out of possession Man United are as poor as any team in the Premier League.”

Even though Ten Hag’s criticism was harsh, it would seem that he at least somewhat concurs because during his first summer in charge, he brought in two midfielders who later helped Old Trafford significantly raise their game.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are the two additions in question for Manchester United FC, of course. The former was fairly expensive—£60 million to be exact—while the latter was free because United signed him when his contract expired.

Manchester United FC players, McTominay and Fred have earned fewer minutes as a result of their respective arrivals.

Only five times in the league has Scotland international McTominay played the entire 90 minutes. While Fred has only succeeded on one occasion.

Given that Eriksen’s January injury is expected to keep him out for at least another month. There may be additional possibilities. But Casemiro’s exceptional quality has forced Fred and McTominay to compete for the one midfield position. That too next to the Brazilian for the time being at Manchester United FC.

For the most of the season, the former Real Madrid player has been nothing short of amazing; one United legend has even compared him to Keane.

Speaking to Unied’s in-house media, Paul Scholes claimed: “Casemiro has been sensational really. He has great experience, winning so many times with Real Madrid as well. And is invaluable to the younger players around the squad.”

“It’s almost like he’s a coach on the football pitch. You’ve seen the difference from when he’s come into the team and what he’s made [happen].”

“He’s a proper Manchester United FC midfielder that gets involved in everything. You see him up the pitch, you see him defending, you see him controlling the game at times. He’s probably as close to Roy Keane as you’re going to get. I think he’s been brilliant.”
