West Ham looking to sign Eden Hazard from Real Madrid

About Football Express UK

West Ham are in incredible form this season and have defeated big teams like Manchester United, City, Liverpool and Chelsea. If they intend to keep their form up then Moyes will have to bolster the first team as well as the bench, a new player on their radar is Eden Hazard.

Real Madrid signed Eden Hazard from Chelsea in 2018 for a staggering £90 million. After three disappointing seasons with Los Blancos, Hazard only has 5 goals in 55 games. He has missed many games because of injuries and lack of fitness.

Even in the current season Eden only has one assist in 11 matches. According to The Express, Real Madrid are looking to sell him for an estimated price of just £21 million. The report also states that West Ham are interested in signing the Belgian international to bolster their ranks.

Eden Hazard has played in the Premier League before and has scored 85 goals in 245 appearances for Chelsea in the league. Hazard is not much of a goalscorer but more of a playmaker.

He has won 4 League titles, a FA Cup and two Europa League trophies with Chelsea. His dribbling ability is amongst the best in football with the likes of Messi and Neymar Jr.

Hazard is definitely a great big-name signing for the Hammers but whether he will shine up to his old form is unknown.

Do West Ham actually need Eden Hazard?

David Moyes will have to sign reinforcements for the club in January. West Ham have already lost Ogbonna and possibly Kurt Zouma as well. The Hammers already have Michail Antonio who is in fine form himself.

Eden Hazard is a winger but West Ham’s winger Jarrod Bowen has proven himself. He was one of the best players against Chelsea. Jarrod has scored only 4 goals this season but he contributes a lot more than that.

Bowen is pacey and using that to his advantage, he chased loose passes and forced Chelsea players to make mistakes. Jarrod made 25 sprints which were more than any other player on the pitch. He even caught a sloppy pass from Jorginho and won a penalty after Mendy fouled him.

Jarrod then reset the tone for West Ham after scoring a fine low shot in the corner to level them with the Blues. He has been inconsistent but not average and underperforming like Hazard. Moyes cannot certainly risk his team’s Champions League qualification chances for a single player.

It is possible that he will need Hazard after all since Benrahma will head for the African Nations Cup with Algeria.  Even if Eden Hazard does come it is unlikely that he will return to top form so early.
