According to reports, Premier League sides Manchester United and Newcastle United are set for an all-out battle for Napoli forward Victor Osimhen ahead of the summer transfer window.
A host of Premier League clubs have been rumoured to be interested in signing the Nigerian striker in the summer transfer window. Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal have shown interest in the Napoli forward. While Newcastle United with the backing of their new owners are also scouting the 23-year-old striker.
According to La Repubblica (via Sport Witness), Manchester United are leading the race for the Victor Osimhen. While they have also reported that Newcastle United are ‘ready to go crazy’ for the Nigerian forward in the summer transfer window.
Victor Osimhen has made a total of 30 appearances across all competitions this term. In this time he has recorded an impressive 17 goals and six assists. (stats via Transfermarkt) Napoli will be willing to let go of their star striker Victor Osimhen for an offer upwards of €100 million.
Should Manchester United and Newcastle target Darwin Núñez ahead of Victor Osimhen?
Both the Premier League sides are also linked with Benfica forward Darwin Núñez. Just like Osimhen, Darwin Núñez has been in brilliant form in front of the goal this term. The Uruguayan striker has made a total of 40 appearances across all competitions this term. In this time he has recorded an exceptional 34 goals and four assists. (stats via Transfermarkt)
Darwin Núñez is expected to leave the Portuguese outfit in the summer transfer window. The 22-year-old has a €150 million release clause in his contract with the Portuguese side. But the club are willing to let go of the striker for a fee closed to €80 million in the summer.
The 22-year-old has put in exceptional performances in the Champions League this term. He has recorded an impressive six goals in Europe this term. The striker scored both home and away against Liverpool in the Champions League.
While both the young striker would be a great fit for the Premier League. But Victor Osimhen would cost more than Darwin Núñez in the summer. On top of the price tag, Nunez has also made a good name for himself in England after scoring in brilliant fashion against Liverpool.
