FC Barcelona Sign Legendary Right-back Dani Alves

About Football Express UK

FC Barcelona has reached an agreement to sign Dani Alves. The legendary right-back has played for Barca before from 2008/09 to 2015/16.

The new manager, Xavi, a legend of the club who played with Alves, asked to sign him.  He thinks that the veterans’ presence in the dressing room will motivate the youngsters.

Currently, Sergino Dest is starting at RB for Barca and can learn a lot from Alves.

Xavi introduces new commandments for FC Barcelona.

Xavi Hernandez is a tactical mastermind. Both as a player as well as a manager, he knew a lot about tactics.

The first change Xavi is trying to implement is discipline. He introduced ten new commandments.

According to The Mirror, Ousmane Dembele is the first victim of Xavi’s new rules. The Frenchman arrived ten minutes late for training.

This is good as the club needs a new method to learn. The players need to be disciplined because the club will monitor their activities.

The best rule that Xavi has introduced is Meritocracy. This implies that Xavi will not favour his ex-teammates Pique, Busquets and Jordi Alba. The players who will show their dedication and commitment will play on the matchday.

Is Dani Alves the greatest right back of all time?

The greatest right-back of all-time debate is between Alves, Cafu and Lahm. But the Brazilian edges out both of them.

Dani Alves joined FC Barcelona from Sevilla in 2008 for £32 million. He then went on to become a regular starter for Pep Guardiola. Alves has been a part of the legendary and arguably best squad of all time ( Barcelona 2008/09). He has also won the Champions League in his last season (2014/15)

He is not only great in defending but also in attack. Alves was often Cristiano Ronaldo’s nightmare in El Clasico. He has contributed to the attack, often using his technical ability. The Alves- Messi connection was mesmerizing to watch.

Before rejoining Barca, Alves was playing at Sao Paulo. The 37-year-old was playing as an attacking midfielder. He is considered the benchmark for comparing right-backs because of his legendary status. Often Liverpool’s Trent Alexander Arnold is compared to him.
