Chelsea manager in pursuit of more reinforcements before window ends

Mauricio Pochettino of Chelsea recently conducted his press conference in anticipation of the upcoming match against Luton tomorrow night. It is customary for press conferences held in August that the discussions were predominantly centering around transfer matters rather than the immediate game at hand.

One week is remaining in the transfer window. Hence, Pochettino faced the question about the positions he deems most essential to reinforce. Rather than evading the query, he chose to respond with remarkable candor and directness.

Chelsea manager said: “We need at least one goalkeeper. We have very talented young keepers, but they need time. We need one more.”

What does Chelsea manager Pochettino’s reply imply?

Pochettino’s response seems to be quite astute. As it caters to the journalists’ desire for a clear answer without necessarily divulging fresh information. The coach likely possesses knowledge about Djordje Petrovic’s imminent signing, enabling him to openly express his desire for a player in that specific position, with the assurance that his wish will be fulfilled in the near future.

He also included, although with less certainty, that the club would contemplate the acquisition of an attacking player, provided they come across an individual possessing the suitable “profile.”

Chelsea manager said: “We were talking about one offensive player, the right profile. If we can add the right profile yes, but [we don’t want] to bring players [for the sake of it], to stop the evolution of some young guys.”

Now only time will tell what Chelsea can cook within the week in order to have a successful transfer window.
