Jeff Stelling talks about defending options Chelsea have

Wright Chelsea's Potter

Chelsea have been poor throughout the season and currently are on 9th position in Premier League. They are also headed for another season without trophy. There has been lack of finishing and scoring important goals and at the same time, the blues have struggled in maintaining proper defensive line. They have gave away a lot of goals and this has costed them important points. Jeff Stelling however believes that Chelsea will improve next season with the injured players coming back on field.

Jeff Stelling talks about who Chelsea should start in defense

Stelling thinks the blues have quality players on the bench who are unfortunately not being talked enough about. To begin with, the first name he mentioned was Wesley Fofana. Chelsea brought Fofana at £70 million from Leicester City. He was very good at Leicester, which brought him in consideration and made Chelsea pay such a huge price. However it has not yet being proved worthy as knee injury made Fofana sidelined for a season. Hopefully he will make his return in next season. He had a terrific knee injury in pre season games.

Stelling said people forget how good Wesley Fofana was at Leicester according to The Chelsea Chronicle. He also suggested that Fofana should be partnered with Levi Colwill. With Thiago Silva confirming that he will leave at the end of season, Fofana could be the first choice defender and regular starter. Levi Colwill will be defending partner and the Blues will hope a good defensive display from this duo.

Chelsea to have big signings in summer

The inconsistency in scoring has forced Chelsea to go for a new striker. Many names have been linked with Chelsea. Along with striker, Chelsea also will be looking after a centre defender. The board will look for an experienced defender to replace Thiago Silva and lead the defensive line. These conditions may show us Chelsea spending a lot in this summer too.
