Tottenham Hotspur to sign a new goalkeeper Forster.

About Football Express UK

Tottenham Hotspur has identified Fraser Forster to be the new goalkeeper. Antonio Conte zeroed on the Southampton goalkeeper to provide competition to Hugo Lloris. The 34-year-old England goalkeeper is close to signing for Tottenham.

Tottenham is making good moves in the transfer market with the signing of Ivan Perisic. Now they are close to signing Forster as well. According to reliable reports, Fraser is to sign a two-year deal. Forster’s contract with Southampton is set to expire therefore it is the best time for Tottenham to make their move for him. Forster is a homegrown talent that is attractive to Spurs. He is the ideal backup to Lloris. Forster played well during the end of the campaign for Southampton. The deal is moving at a good pace and will be completed soon.

Tottenham had signed Pierluigi Gollini on loan for the season but they are willing to let him go. He made 10 appearances but none in the Premier League. He had to rely on cup competitions to find his game time.

Current Premier League Standings

While going in for Forster, Spurs have chosen Premier League experience over age. This is because they could have signed Gollini for 13 million pounds or Sam Johnstone, both of whom are younger than Forster. Tottenham was expected to target Johnstone and the interest in Forster is unexpected. However, the heat around Johnstone has died down and the heat around Forster is up high.

Tottenham can sign Fraser for free as his contract will expire at the end of the season. Spurs will be playing Champions League football next season hence this is a good move for Forster.

However, Forster will have to give up on playing time. This should hopefully not be an issue for the player. Moreover, Forster may not play regularly but he is capable of a good performance.
