Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta provide worrying update on the fitness of Saliba. The French international has been unavailable for selection in recent few weeks as he continues to recover from a back injury. His season is thought to have ended. Arsenal lost 4-1 to City in his absence.
Saliba getting ready to make a strong comeback next season at Arsenal
Mikel Arteta’s side have not kept a clean sheet in the four games that Rob Holding has deputised for the Frenchman. Mikel Arteta has trusted William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes at the heart of the defense this season. Arsenal want Saliba back as soon as possible. They have a title to win which they haven’t won for 19 years. William Saliba is willing to take the risk inorder to help them cross the line but the consequences are serious. Arsenal are helping him continue his rehabilitation.
Mikel Arteta in a recent press conference went on to say:-

“No big news, the picture hasn’t changed from last week. And regarding William, we still have to wait a little bit more.“
“We want to be very certain when we push him that he is ready to absorb the load and the risk that we would take, and at the moment that’s not possible to do.’
But he’s not there yet to start throwing him on the pitch at the level that is demanded to compete in this league.’
It is unlikely the Gunners will be in such a commanding position in the next seasons. More teams will be competing for it next time. While the Gunners are reportedly optimistic about securing him to a bumper new deal, Saliba will have several suitors beyond north London. He plans to stay here and he loves the club. Saliba is a fan favourite and it would be a shame if he leaves.
