Manchester United have had a terrible season this time around finishing 6th. This was their worst season since Ferguson left as they finished with 58pts. Moreover United have had a goal difference of 0 which essentially meant they conceded as much as they scored.
The United defense has been shaky this season as they leaked in goals left, right, and center. This was mostly due to the shift of tactics made by Ole at the start of the season. United switched from a counter-attacking style which was based on hardcore defense to a more possession-based style due to the signing of Sancho and Ronaldo. The players were unable to adapt to the new tactics, especially the defense and conceded a lot of goals. The only saving grace was De Gea who made some amazing saves that may have saved United from a lower finish.
Defenders United should try to get
Erik Ten Hag will be aware of United’s defensive woes and by now he is aware that the current players do not fit his style. He needs new players on his side. Here are two players whom United should go for in the Summer.

Jurrien Timber
Timber was one of Ten Hag’s main men at Ajax and one that he rates very highly. In fact, Ten Hag wants Timber at Old Trafford in the Summer. Timber, 20, Lacks experience however he has the ability and work rate that Ten Hag desires. Most importantly, he can easily fit into Ten Hag’s team and become the first-choice center back in no time.
Pau Torres
Pau Torres has been amazing for Villareal this season. He was part of Unai Emery’s squad that reached the Semifinals of the Champions League. Torres, 25, is unlikely to stay at Villareal for another season as many clubs have been “vulturing” around him. United should get Torres as he could be the one person who can easily be paired with Varane in the coming season. Moreover, Torres has time on his hands to be a better defender.
