Arsenal

Arsenal have set their sights on Girona left-back Miguel Gutierrez, according to Fabrizio Romano. The transfer insider took to X(Twitter).

To claim that the Gunners have sent scouts out to monitor the 22-year-old in recent weeks.

As well as Arsenal, a host of other clubs are also eyeing Gutierrez, who has been performing at a great level in La Liga.

Current Premier League Standings

With the January transfer window edging ever closer, Arsenal could well look to bolster their ranks mid-season.

The Gunners have done well so far this term, but there’s always scope to bring in reinforcements to help the team fight on all fronts.

At left-back, Arsenal currently have Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu to choose from.

Both are versatile players – the former also plays in midfield and the latter is a right-back by trade.

While both are good options, there’s the potential to bring in an out-and-out left-back too.

Arsenal thinks ‘He will be a top left-back’

Gutierrez is a great shout for Arsenal. At just 22 years of age, he has already made 48 outings for Girona, plus 10 competitive senior appearances for Real Madrid.

Last year, he told AS – via One Football – about his style of play: “I always want to attack and (hope) that the team is offensive.”

As per Sportskeeda, Gutierrez’s release clause is worth €40million (around £35million), with his contract with Girona expiring in 2027.

He came through Los Blancos’ academy and made 10 senior appearances for them before joining Girona for €4million in 2022.

The Spanish giants still hold a 50 percent sell-on clause in his contract.

Years ago, Spain Under-17 coach David Gordo made a prediction for Gutierrez that has proven accurate.

“If they give him minutes and he plays games, he will be a top left-back,” he told AS.

“He has the characteristics of the perfect left-back for Real Madrid, he is a Primera-level player, for sure.”

“He has quality, ability to get forward, a nice strike, he is ambitious and he has a winning mentality… very bright future.”

Meanwhile, Zinedine Zidane has previously described Gutierrez’s talents as “phenomenal”, as per 90Min.
