Liverpool on the verge of signing Marco Verratti this summer

Liverpool has been consistently linked with top-quality midfielders. Meanwhile, one of the names that have emerged in the rumors is Azzurri star Marco Verratti.





The Reds are reportedly on the outlook to outmaneuver Atletico Madrid in the race to sign the Italian midfielder Marco Verratti from Paris Saint-Germain. PSG values their prized asset at 70 million euros.

As per the Catalan outlet, Nacional, the decorated midfielder expressed his approval to join Jurgen Klopp’s side. Hence, Liverpool now needs to negotiate with Paris Saint-Germain to finalize the transfer.

The 30-year-old star shows interest in the prospect of reuniting with Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid. However, President Florentino Perez decided against signing him. Since, he believes that the La Liga giants already possess sufficient quality and depth in the central midfield position.

According to the Spanish news source, Atletico Madrid’s manager Diego Simeone had shown interest in Verratti. However, the Italian midfielder has chosen to reject Atletico Madrid’s advances and has instead opted for a move to Anfield, indicating his preference to join Liverpool.

The veteran midfielder has an impressive record in France, having participated in over 400 games. During his time there, he achieved success by winning the Ligue 1 title and Super Cup on nine occasions. Additionally, he has lifted the French Cup and the League Cup six times, showcasing his consistent excellence in domestic competitions.

Indeed, it’s worth mentioning that Verratti played a crucial role for the Italian national team during the European Championships. Thus, leading them to victory under the management of Roberto Mancini two years ago. His contributions were significant as he provided two assists during the competition, highlighting his impact on the team’s success.
