Liverpool might not pursue Khephren Thuram any more

Liverpool

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool made the decision to withdraw from a potential deal for Khephren Thuram. That is due to the perceived excessive cost associated with the complete package, which was considered to be beyond the club’s budget.

The possibility of the Nice midfielder moving to Anfield garnered significant attention earlier in the summer; however, those speculations have waned in recent weeks. Presently, reports say the French Under-21 international will continue to remain with the Ligue 1 club.

In a recent conversation, Romano revealed that Liverpool found themselves unable to pursue the midfielder due to the prohibitive cost. The midfielder had a link for a potential move to Newcastle United. Nonetheless, Romano didn’t dismiss the possibility of Liverpool revisiting the situation and altering their stance before the closure of the transfer window.

Another French player, Manu Kone, who is with Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga, was also a potential target for Liverpool earlier in the summer. Nevertheless, Romano affirmed that Kone’s acquisition is no longer a primary focus for the Reds. Since they persist in reshaping their midfield options.

Who are Liverpool targeting to boost their midfield further?

Jurgen Klopp’s team finds themselves in a pressing situation. Seeking reinforcements following the departure of six senior midfielders at the close of the previous season. Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister are already additions in the squad. However, the imminent commencement of the Premier League season next week necessitates additional additions in the midfield department for Liverpool.

Liverpool continues to be in negotiations to secure the services of Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia. Even in the face of two previous unsuccessful bids. The Saints have held their ground, maintaining a resolute stance on their valuation of £50 million for the former Manchester City player.

In addition, there have been links between Liverpool and Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch, as well as Fluminese’s Andre. An exclusive report by Anfield Watch last week also indicated that Liverpool’s interest extends to Leicester’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
