Arsenal manager may include David Raya in plans for upcoming matches

Arsenal Team

Reports suggest that David Raya made a considerable impression during training sessions since joining Arsenal. Within the club, there is growing belief that Mikel Arteta will provide the Spaniard with an opportunity in starting lineup. Potentially ahead of Aaron Ramsdale.

Despite his unexpected loan move to Arsenal during the summer transfer window, David Raya has not made an appearance for the club yet. Nevertheless, it’s a fact that Arteta bringing him to the team was with the intention of improving their goalkeeper options.

Initially, Aaron Ramsdale got to establish himself as the first-choice goalkeeper. So far, Ramsdale has been arguably performing admirably this season. However, it appears that Arteta is preparing to make a change when the domestic campaign recommences.

According to The Daily Mail, there is a rising sentiment within Arsenal that David Raya is on the verge of becoming the first-choice goalkeeper for an extended period. It is implied that the 27-year-old has been impressing observers at London Colney with his training performances. Thus, earning the admiration of those around him.

Will David Raya replace Ramsdale?

For a considerable number of Arsenal fans, this shift in the goalkeeping hierarchy has appeared inevitable. Bringing in David Raya seemed somewhat counterproductive. That is if his sole role was to serve as backup for Ramsdale.

This transition bears a striking resemblance to how Ramsdale himself ascended to the number one spot at Arsenal. He made his Premier League debut for the Gunners following the first international break two years ago, and since then, he has not relinquished his position.

However, it’s possible that this scenario is on the verge of transformation. David Raya is an “incredible” talent who has already demonstrated his capabilities in the Premier League. Consequently, Ramsdale is likely cognizant that his teammate possesses the ability to take advantage of the upcoming opportunities in the weeks ahead.
