Erik ten Hag rejects Ronaldo’s request for new striker

About Football Express UK

Erik ten Hag has reportedly rejected Ronaldo‘s request for another striker to join him in the forward lineup. The 37-year-old striker has previously been vocal about his desire to leave the club this summer. This is due to the Red Devil’s inability to clinch a UCL spot in the previous season.

That being said, according to a report by The Mirror, Ronaldo implied in March that he was happy to see out the rest of his two years in the contract, but only if the club signs a striker. But following Ronaldo’s request would mean that Erik ten Hag would have to play a front two. ETH reportedly was not very interested in this. He would rather prefer a front three with two of the forwards operating from the flanks.

Ten Hag was eager to sign Antony from his previous club, but Ajax were not willing to sell the winger. Meanwhile, PSV Eindhoven’s winger Cody Gakpo is another target for the Red Devils. Although there has been a disagreement with the Portuguese forward on the type of forward that the Red Devils need to sign, ETH is still keen to boost the final third before the summer transfer window close.

Erik ten Hag will have to look for a way to keep the striker happy, as United won’t be able to lose their talisman. With the performances in the previous season and the beginning of the new season, they seriously need well-motivated seniors as well to lead the team well. The team needs some serious direction while on the field.
