Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has explained his reasons for leaving Chelsea in the January transfer window. He has also explained his reason behind joining Gunners.
He has also compared the Gunners team to the team he played with Napoli. Hence, it looks like the Italian midfielder is enjoying his career with the Gunners.
ARSENAL MIDFIELDER REVEALS THE REASON FOR LEAVING CHELSEA ON THE DEADLINE DAY
Arsenal signed Jorginho from Chelsea for 13.5 million on the deadline day of the January transfer window. A number of reports also claimed that the Gunners only signed because they failed to sign Moises Caicedo. However, since the move, Jorginho has not explained the reason behind leaving Chelsea. Hence, in the latest interview, he explains his reasons on joining the Gunners project.
The Arsenal midfielder further said, “Mikel Arteta called me and it was all very quick, we made the deal in less than 48 hours. I had spoken to Chelsea and I knew I was no longer part of their plans. I wanted to progress in my career and the Arsenal project suits me. “It’s a young team that plays good football and fits my characteristics. I considered every scenario and made the decision. Sometimes you must accept when you are out of a project and that things come to an end.”
THE BLUES ALSO GOT THE FINANCIAL BENEFIT FROM HIS SALE IN THE JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
It is not just Arsenal but Chelsea also got the financial benefit from his sale. The Blues were never going to offer him a new contract. Hence, he was going to leave in the summer transfer window on a free transfer window. Hence, the Blues were set to get nothing from the sale. However, after the surprise interest of the Gunners, they got almost 15 million from his sale.
Hence, it looks all the parties got their benefits from the Jorginho deal. Arsenal got a mature player and leader in the form of Jorginho for the title season. Whereas, Chelsea got almost 15 million for a player whose contract was expiring in 6 months. Jorginho also benefitted as he could continue his stay in London for the next 2 seasons.
Hence, Jorginho’s time at Chelsea ended respectfully. He has also moved to a brilliant club like Arsenal. Jorginho will also hope to return to Italy at the end of his Gunners contract. The midfielder has also said that he would love to return to Italy at the end of his contract.
