Significant backroom change close to completion at Chelsea

About Football Express UK

Todd Boehly and the Chelsea management are reportedly very close to signing RB Leipzig’s Christopher Vivell as the new technical director. This could be one of the most important signings as a new hierarchy at Stamford Bridge forms.

Chelsea’s last Technical director was Michael Emenalo who departed in 2017. While legendary goalkeeper Petr Cech acted as technical and performance advisor, he left in the aftermath of the takeover. Vivell’s signing could be crucial in shaping the Chelsea squad and management.

What role will Chelsea have Christopher Vivell play?

Should Vivell complete the switch from Leipzig, he would play a similar role to what he had in the Bundesliga. Vivell, who also was a former Head Scout would be in charge of handling transfers and managing the squad, in addition to several other duties.

Chelsea is currently in negotiations for two Leipzig players- Christopher Nkunku and Josko Gvardiol. The 35-year-old Vivell is expected to play a significant role in negotiations for these players, as some of the first signings under Graham Potter’s tenure.
