It has been reported that Arsenal are edging closer and close to signing former Manchester City player Romeo Lavia.
This comes from Fabrizio Romano. After it was claimed on Monday that talks had already taken place over the 19-year-old’s potential move to Mikel Arteta’s side.
Now, it seems like it is only a matter of time until City may have to watch Romeo Lavia become an Arsenal player.
What can we expect in the Romeo Lavia to Arsenal deal
When Pep Guardiola’s side sold the Belgian defensive midfielder to Southampton for £12 million (Fabrizio Romano). A buy-back clause was inserted, that would only be valid in 2024.
But the teenager took the Premier League by storm. Which has now meant that City look likely to lose a player. He would have been the perfect understudy to Rodri.
However, Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Arsenal are ‘advancing’ in their pursuit to sign Romeo Lavia. But yet to have submitted an official bid.
While there is no running away from the fact that Manchester City would likely be gutted about Romeo Lavia. Him potentially playing for Arsenal, Kalvin Phillips could ensure that those regrets become a thing of the past.
In his debut season at the Etihad Stadium, while he has won the treble. The injuries and a failure to push Rodri for a starting place has meant the Englishman has been a mere squad player.
However, as is the case with several new signings at City. If Phillips kicks on and showcased why the club signed him in the first place. Them Lavia’s presence at the Emirates Stadium will not bug English football’s dominant force.
Indeed, at the age of just 19, Lavia is set to be a top player at this level for the next 15 years. While Rice is a spring chicken in his own right at the age of 24.
