Manchester City Player Impressed In FA Cup Despite Transfer Rumours

Manchester City FA Cup

With a 4-0 victory over Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, Manchester City guaranteed their spot in the FA Cup fourth round. Kalvin Phillips was one of many players to stand out.

Phillips performed at a high level against Chelsea in FA Cup. The 27-year-old utilized his frustration of not starting in the playing 11 with a positive attitude.

Rodri was replaced by Phillips in the second half, and he ended up playing for more than 30 minutes. Only Rico Lewis (100%) had a greater pass completion ratio (96.8%), while only Aymeric Laporte had four more turnovers than the England international (3) in the FA Cup.

Since coming on a six-year agreement from Leeds United in the summer, Phillips has only played in six games across all competitions, totaling just 89 minutes of action thus far.

He has spent a large portion of his first season on the sidelines and in Rodri’s place in the hierarchy, but he will hope for additional chances to demonstrate his value. Wednesday’s EFL Cup match between City and Southampton features Phillips, who almost certainly has a chance to start.
