Thierry Henry reacts to Arsenal 6-0 win and expresses Ødegaard concern

Martin Odegaard

Arsenal recently qualified for the knockout stage of Champions League with a 6-0 win over French side RC lens. With Martin Ødegaard getting on the scoresheet after coming back from a brief injury. The Arsenal captain hasn’t been at his best this season with only four goal involvement in ten matches. Last season Ødegaard had 15 goals and 8 assists, despite being a midfielder. The Norwegian hasn’t been able to replicate his previous season this time in the Premier League. That’s the concern Thierry Henry expressed about the player. He said,

“I am thinking about Ødegaard. We need to have him back on track. I am not saying he hasn’t been good, I am saying he hasn’t been to the standard of where he was. I hope the goal tonight for him will be good for him. You can see in the celebration. There is a moment of ‘wow, I have been waiting’. I think it’s vital he can be good for us because we do need him. He is the heart of the team, alongside Bukayo Saka.”

Current Premier League Standings

Henry said that Martin Ødegaard and Bukayo Saka are the hearts of the Arsenal team. To be fair, the skipper has been influential in the midfield for the Gunners, dictating the play. Ødegaard has very good playmaking ability, creating many chances for the forwards. It was more evident in the Arsenal win over Lens.

Arsenal continue to win, in a good form this season

The Gunners sit at the top of the Premier League table as of now and are looking good in the Champions League as well. Arsenal have qualified for the Round of 16 after the win against RC Lens. In a game where they struggled against Lens in France, Ødegaard and Gabriel Jesus played a major role in their win. Thierry Henry also acknowledged Gabriel Jesus’ great performance against the French side.
