Man United midfielder set to join Eintracht Frankfurt on loan

About Football Express UK

Man United and Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt have reportedly agreed a loan deal for Donny van de Beek. With reports coming out of Germany that the player is set to have his medical next week. According to BILD, a deal for him is ‘perfect’ and will include a purchase option for ‘just under €10m. Man United will also pay ‘large parts’ of his €8m salary during the loan but Donny has reduced his wages so that Eintracht Frankfurt only have to pay him around €1.5m until June 30th, 2024. There were several reports in Germany linking the Dutchman to Frankfurt, but apparently the talks have sped up in the past few days.

Man United and Frankfurt negotiations

Earlier Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg revealed that the player has ‘decided’ to join Eintracht Frankfurt on a loan deal. He claimed that club president Markus Krösche and coach Dino Toppmöller managed to ‘convince’ the Man United midfielder. And now, BILD has reported the confirmation for the player’s exit to Frankfurt in a loan deal. Frankfurt aim to bring in van de Beek before 2nd January, as they will be returning from Winter break. As for Man United, with Casemiro and van de Beek both on the verge of leaving, they need to sign a replacement in midfield soon.

Man United need a midfielder in January

Man United have been massively underperforming this season under Erik Ten Hag. They currently sit at the 7th place in Premier League table and out of European Championships. Even new signings of Rasmus Hojlund and Mason mount have failed to bring an impact on the team. In this situation, with two midfielders heading out of the club, they will surely need to make a move in the transfer window. With january transfer window approaching in less than 10 days, it might become busy transfer window for the Red Devils.
