ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE

Liverpool have now joined the race to sign amazing player from Chelsea

Liverpool

Liverpool are the latest Premier League club showing an interest in signing Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher. That is according to well-respected journalist Simon Phillips.

Conor Gallagher, who’s gone from strength to strength this season under Mauricio Pochettino’s management, is increasingly under the spotlight because his contract at Stamford Bridge expires in less than two years.

TEAMtalk reported earlier this week that Gallagher’s attracting interest from Premier League rivals Brighton, Tottenham, West Ham and Newcastle United. He’s more certain than ever that he wants to stay in West London, though.

Current Premier League Standings

Now, there’s a new name to throw into the race.

Liverpool eye Chelsea star

Simon Phillips has reported via his Substack on Wednesday afternoon that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are showing an interest in Gallagher.

It is understood that Chelsea will begin speaking very soon with their 23-year-old midfielder to discuss a contract extension, but offers from interested clubs may begin to flood in just as quickly.

Phillips said: “I am told they (Liverpool) are keen to add more English players and are taking an interest in Gallagher.”

It really puts into context how much quality Gallagher possesses when a club like Liverpool enters the race for him alongside other top Premier League teams.

We know he’s divide opinion at times within the Chelsea fanbase,

But he’s really coming into his own during the opening quarter of this 2023/24 season. His energy and quality as a box-to-box midfielder is so easy on the eye.

If we made the final choice, we’d ensure that the Blues academy graduate extended his stay at the club and focused on his development under Pochettino.

Speaking on Sky Sports earlier this month, Frank Lampard described Gallagher as an “amazing character” and a “big talent”.

He was struggling to find his spot with the Blues during a turbulent year for the club last season,

But there’s now a real consistency and rhythm to his game. The same applies for plenty of his teammates, too.
