Taa injured on his return as England beats Austria in 1-0 win

About Football Express UK

England defeated Austria by a solitary goal by Bukayo Saka in the friendlies before the Euros 2021. The Three Lions began their 2021 campaign in style. They would be looking forward to their crunch match against Croatia in Group D.

Jesse Lingard made it to the starting 11 even though he won’t play in the Euro 2020 this season after missing out on the final team selection. It was the visitors who were dominating the match with most possession. However, the main concern is about Trent Alexander Arnold’s injury in this match. This can be a major blow for England ahead of the major upcoming tournament.

England 1-0 Austria : Analysis

The Burschen were the ones who were working hard and keeping the possession whenever needed as they finished with 61% possession. However, they were clearly lacking the cutting edge although the hosts were given very less chances.

Austria fought brilliantly in the first half but were unable to threaten the opponent goalkeeper. But, after the defense stumbled, Saka made no mistake in front of goal. He broke the deadlock for the Three Lions with an easy tap in goal.

Austrians had a wonderful opportunity for leveling things up but Marcel Sabotzer could only hit the post in the 64th minute. Trent Alexander Arnold got injured in the match and got booked in a bizarre manner after entering the field of play without permission after treatment. Overall, it was a superb defensive display thanks to the defenders and Jordan Pickford.

Notable Performances :

Bukayo Saka (7.5/10) – An impressive display from the Gunners player as he deserved his first ever international goal. The 19-year-old midfielder was a constant threat for the visitors.

Jude Bellingham (7/10) – He was brilliant in his third start for his national team and was the key man in winning the possession and creating chances for England.

Marcel Sabitzer (5.5/10) – Although the RB Leipzig player was giving his best, he still missed a wonderful opportunity after the opening goal.
