The 24-year-old midfielder hasn’t been able to make an impact at his current club, Manchester United. Surprisingly, he has featured just one for the Red Devils this season.

However, as a consequence of the injury, he could start preparations for the next season with the Premier League club along with ensuring adequate recovery.

Unfortunate season for Donny van de Beek worsened by Euro 2020 withdrawal from squad

Donny van de Beek arrived at Manchester United from Dutch giants, Ajax in last summer. However, he couldn’t recreate his form at the new club. He, along with his former Ajax teammates, Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt and Hakim Ziyech were the ones who helped de Godenzonen reach the semifinals of 2018-19 Champions League.

But, he has played an instrumental role for his country, the Netherlands. Van de Beek made his senior debut for the Oranje at twenty years of age.

He has earned 19 call ups for his nation scoring three goals and bagging one assist so far. However, there won’t be any replacement announced for him according to Frank de Boer, current head coach of Holland. But, the exclusion would surely be a big blow for their hopes of winning the title.

The Netherlands team’s official Twitter account posted as follows on Tuesday morning,

“Van de Beek has to let the European Championship pass by. The midfielder is struggling with an injury.”

He might be now keen on making the preparations for the next season and prove himself to be one of the best in his club. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer failed to win his first ever trophy after his side fell short to Villarreal in the Europa League final by penalties. However, they are playing in the Champions League next season after finishing 2nd in the top four spots in the Premier League standings.
